The first podcast episode of Utter Oddcast hit the Internet on April 19, 2007, as a spin off from the, now defunct, Trolley Dodgers Podcast.
Brian Groce & Jeff Stanger took the reigns and led the audience on a navigation of the latest odd news. No topic was left untouched, from “Naked News” to religion, and anything in between. One of their biggest draws was their annual “October Oddness” events and episodes.
Mel McMahon joined Utter Oddcast as a co-host on September 17, 2010, on Episode 113. Which also happens to be the same episode which Brian & Jeff discuss their lawsuit threat over the “Naked News” segment, and do a complete episode with almost all “Naked (in the) News” related stories.
The final episode in the Groce-Stanger era, Episode 136, was released on February 2, 2012, bringing the total to over 33 hours of non-stop fun.
In July 2015, after a three-year hiatus, Brian Groce decided to bring back the Utter Oddcast website and added new stories & videos.
In June 2016 an Utter Oddcast segment was added to the Naptown Buzz Podcast.
On July 1, 2016, the Utter Oddcast Podcast was relaunched, and episode 137 was released, soon followed by episode 138.
In the late summer/early fall of 2016 numerous changes began taking place with the entire Surge Bucket Media lineup, and the Utter Oddcast bits were put in the can until the changes were complete.
By the summer of 2017, all Surge Bucket Media changes were now in place, and all media properties were now linked together.
On July 6, 2017, Utter Oddcast 139 was released containing some of the canned bits we were sitting on, as well as a few new pieces.
Utter Oddcast is released roughly weekly, and typically on Thursday or Friday.
