A squirrel has become an online sensation after it was reportedly “detained” when a woman called police to complain it was stalking her.
The panicked woman was unable to shake the rodent in the western German city of Bottrop, so turned to the authorities in desperation on Wednesday, police told Reuters.
North-Rhine Westphalia police took in the squirrel and found it was suffering exhaustion.

92-year-old Bridgehampton potato farmer Klaus Keinekleider, known as “Old Farmer Nakey” to locals, is locally famous for his practice of farming in the nude. In fact, Keinekleider’s yearly “summer unveiling,” when he makes his first-of-the-season nude run down Ocean Road on his rusty old tractor, is a cherished local tradition. But those not familiar with Keinekleider often demand that something be done.
“Every year we get a flurry of calls from city people,” Hamptons police spokesman Larry Hirsch says. “What they don’t realize is that nude farming wasn’t specifically prohibited in Bridgehampton until 1961. Even then, legislators exempted from the law any farmer who was then engaged in nude farming. Keinekleider is grandfathered in.”
Hirsch advises those who object to chill out. “These people are just worried that their highfalutin’ city friends will be repulsed by the naked farmer,” he points out. “They should relax and try to see it as a little bit of local history.”

EAST DUNDEE, IL — The owner of a suburban Chicago pub that has held an annual Turkey Testicle Festival for 32 years, now has “family friendly” competition from a nearby Illinois community.
J.R. Westberg, who owns the Parkside Pub in Huntley, Illinois, said that his only criticism of East Dundee’s plan for its own event the day before Thanksgiving is the organizers’ lack of originality. They gave it the exact same name and scheduled it for the same date and time.
The Parkside Pub festival often attracts more than 4,000 people to snack on the deep-fried turkey bits, which some attendees consider a “dare food” and prefer doused in ranch dressing or Tabasco sauce.
At Parkside Pub’s Turkey Testicle Festival an order of “Turkey Nuts” is $5.00.

Five bulls gored four revelers — including two Americans — and injured five others with cuts and bruises as they hurtled through the northern Spanish city of Pamplona.
The Americans were a 34-year-old from Philadelphia identified only by his initials J.N.O., who suffered two gorings, one behind his knee and another near the anus, and a 20-year-old with lesser injuries identified as A.G.O.
When a Welsh Tory Assembly Member (AM) asked the Welsh Government questions about UFO sightings over the Cardiff airport and other parts of Wales, the Welsh government chose to answer in the fictional language of the villainous alien Klingons from the TV series Star Trek.
Tory Assembly Member (AM) Darren Millar, for Clwyd West, addressed three questions to Edwina Hart, the Minister of Economy, Science and Transport, about claimed UFO sightings and the Welsh Government’s response to the reports.
In response to the questions, the Welsh Government replied, “jang vIDa je due luq. ‘ach ghotvam’e’ QI’yaH-devolved qaS.”
The translation of the Klingon language text being, “The minister will reply in due course. However this is a non-devolved matter.”
“It is believed to be the first time the Welsh government has chosen to communicate in Klingon,” the BBC commented.
Surprised at the trivializing response to his inquiry, Millar retorted, “I’ve always suspected that Labour ministers came from another planet. This response confirms it.”
NC — A dolphin that had been injured in a shark attack washed ashore on a North Carolina beach this week, dying from its injuries in the latest shark-related episode to strike the East Coast.
The incident transpired Friday morning at Kure Beach, according to Fox 8. A witness observed the dolphin as it was attacked by a shark just south of the Kure Beach pier, suffering several bite wounds, including at least one on its tail. The dolphin washed ashore following the shark attack, and beachgoers moved to cover the animal with towels and bring it water in an attempt to care for it. Despite their efforts, the dolphin succumbed to its injuries, dying on the sand.
